Sandy Tipping's Resume

An accomplished piano and keyboard player with extensive musical direction experience, specializing in contemporary American musical styles.   Exceptionally strong musical leader, whether as a section player or director.  Substantial work as a touring musician with a variety of acts.  Proven history as a successful record producer, show arranger, touring musician and session player.  Expertise in all areas of music direction including casting, vocal and band rehearsals, conducting and arranging.  Excellent sight reader of notation, chord symbols, number charts. Available for engagements of varied length.

  

Professional Highlights

Music Director,   Stage West Entertainment’s “The Medora Musical”

Custom band and vocal arrangements for this 2 hour outdoor Western extravaganza, including show trax for horns, strings and winds.  Casting and rehearsal of band, ensemble and leads.   In my first year with this company, management’s response was overwhelmingly positive: “the show has never sounded so good”, “for the first time, these tracks work perfectly”  and “until this year, we’ve never been so well-prepared and ready to open”.

 

Music Director,   Spazelle Entertainment’s “The Elle Revue”

Founding Musical Director for this high-energy stage show featuring eight vocalists performing classic numbers with a five-piece live band.  Custom band and vocal arrangements, rehearsals and weekly show musical direction while playing keyboard.  This show is on-going.

 

Producer,   Reel Loud Record’s “Denver and the Mile High Orchestra”

Produced four critically acclaimed albums for this 12-piece Contemporary Christian big band, including musical arranging, full-score layout, rehearsing and eventually recording.  Working with these guys was like herding cats.  The album “Timeless Christmas” recommended by USA Today during Christmas of 2004. 

 

Band Leader,   Wright Entertainment Group’s  “Gifted Talent Search”

Directed this five-piece rhythm section from the keyboard during the 2006 TBN Gifted Talent Search which aired nationally.  Band provided backing for 8 finalists, as well as host Brian Litrell (formerly of the Back Street Boys) and Andrae Crouch along with background vocalists, horn and string sections.
