Got Questions?
Who owns the recording?
You do! Once you have paid for the project in full, you completely own the
masters to your project. AMP (or anyone else for that matter) cannot legally
duplicate or sell your project without your permission. If AMP would like to use
your recording for promotional use, we will ask for your permission.
Will you help me pitch my project to record labels, booking agents, and
management?
AMP does not formally offer a package where they will send your album to
other music industry conglomerates. In our experience, those production
companies that offer these services have a low success rate, and we would rather
focus on what we do best - quality recording and production. However, the
individuals working on your project may have personal connections to an
organization of which you would like to make contact. It is your responsibility
to make friends with the people you surround yourself with, and ask if they can
help you. If asked, AMP will make suggestions on how to best make a pitch or
presentation.
Do you do the artwork?
Again, because AMP is focused on the quality of your recording, we do not
have in-house photographers and graphic design people to do your artwork. We do,
however, have extensive contacts with fantastic photographers and designers. If
you wish, we can coordinate the photography and graphic design of your CD
artwork and other promotional pieces. As this is not our core focus at AMP, we
would provide this service at an additional cost, discussed with you beforehand.
Do you do the duplication of my CD's?
If you wish, AMP can take care of the duplication of your CD's. Please
contact us for pricing.
Will you help me come up with ways to market and sell
my recording?
One of the advantages to using AMP is the wealth of the team's experience.
We would be more than happy to make some suggestions on how to market and sell
your recording. If you would like a detailed marketing plan,
contact Jared
Ribble, and he will work with you. (Additional fees will apply)
I want to record a song, but I do not know if I have
the rights to do so. Can you help us?
It is the sound recording owner's responsibility (that is you) to make sure
you are within the legal boundaries to record and sell music that you did not
compose. AMP and their team have had some experience working with publishers to
negotiate the rights to use someone else's song, and can advise on that process.
However, in those circumstances, AMP is only an advisor to you. AMP is in no way
responsible for what you choose to record with us.
Will AMP help me find songs to record?
What you choose to record is your own decision. If you would like AMP to
make suggestions, we will be glad to do so.
I have some lyrics, and melodies written. Can AMP help
me finish these songs?
Writing the melody, lyrics, and chord structure are all part of composing
the song. AMP has helped many people flesh out a song nugget into a full
composition. Of course, your producer will be glad to work with you to finish
composing any part of the song of which you need help. (for instance, a new
form, the creation of a bridge, or realizing the chord structure for a given
melody). However, out of professional courtesy, you should offer them co-writing
credits, along with a percentage of the publishing royalty you receive. The
producer will work this out with you prior to helping you finish your songs. AMP
is generally not in the business of seeking out co-writing, arranging or
production royalties on our client's albums; we do, however, expect that if one
of our producers plays a significant role in completing otherwise incomplete
compositions, we will be credited accordingly.
